A Government only exists to provide benefit to the people, to the citizens and I would argue to the human citizens not the corporate citizens.
So when a majority of the people do not support and do not want a war that will; cost thousands of human lives, cost on the order of a trillion dollars when it has run its course, and causes increased insecurity for the citizens of that country, then I ask whose war is it anyway. It is not a war for and by the citizens of that country.
Various groups and individuals have come out against the further prosecution of this war. The best response has been to question their authority to speak based on views they have on other subjects. Which is to say there is no defense of the war. What little direct defense there has been for the war has been based on proven lies like the WMD issue, or the nonexistent tie between Saddam and 9/11.
So whose war is it. Who profits? The military industrial complex, the oil industry, conservative think tanks, to name a few. Who loses; the military, the taxpayers, and the citizens of the country where the war is being prosecuted and the citizens of the country that started the war.
After WWII there were trails for the people that fueled the war that consumed the world. Which country will stand up and demand a similar trial today?
